How to Play NFSU2: Controls and Saves

Here is how to play NFSU2 in your browser: open the NFSU2 browser game in Chrome or Edge on a computer and press Play. This guide covers what you see after that: the start screens, the controls, how the game saves, and how to export and import your saves so a cleared browser does not cost you your progress.

How to start the game in your browser

1. Press Play and wait. The window shows what the game is loading.
2. Click once inside the game window so it takes the keyboard.
3. At the title screen that says Press Enter Key, press Enter.
4. The first time, the game asks whether you want to create a new profile. Answer Yes and give it a name, so that your progress has somewhere to be saved.

The menus work with the arrow keys and Enter. If the picture stays dark or the keys do nothing, click on the game window again: the game pauses when the page loses focus.

How to play NFSU2: controls in the browser

The browser game runs the PC game. Arrow keys move through the menus, and in a race Up is the gas pedal. For the full list of keys for braking, nitrous and handbrake, use the game's options menu, where you can review and change them. We have not printed the whole key table here because we would rather you see the real one in your own game.

On a touch screen the game draws its own gas, nitrous and handbrake buttons in a race, and the arrow, OK and Back buttons under the window cover the menus. Touch play is experimental and has not been verified on every phone.

NFSU2 save game: where saves live

NFSU2 asks to save after you change things in your garage, as it did in the original. In the browser those saves go into the storage your browser keeps for this site, in your own computer. They stay there across visits until you clear the site data for this page, switch browsers, or use another computer. Because the browser decides when to clear storage on a nearly full disk, a backup file is a good habit.

You can also save at a spot in the city: open the pause menu, choose Jump To Garage, change any part on the car, and answer Yes when the game offers to save. Community guides describe this trick for the PC game.

How to export and import NFSU2 saves

1. Press Exit game under the window and wait until the Play button comes back. The save files are in use while the game runs, so export only works when the game is closed.
2. Press Export saves. Your browser downloads one file with all of your saves.
3. On the other browser or computer open this site, do not press Play yet, press Import savesand pick the file. The page tells you how many save files it restored.
4. Press Play. Your profile is in the game's load menu.

Does NFSU2 work on Android, iOS or school computers?

The page checks your browser before Play. Chrome and Edge on a computer are the supported setup. Play is greyed out on iPhone and iPad for now, Android phones are not verified yet, and Firefox does not provide all the features the game needs. School or work computers can block the features the game uses, so if Play is greyed out with a message, ask whether hardware acceleration and local storage are allowed for the browser.
